Léon Busy, the photographer of colour

[English] [français]

Singularity of the photographer Léon Busy.
In March 1931, Léon Busy, 43 years old, stopped his activity as a photographer.

Attached to Vietnamese culture, in 1939 he donated 17 agricultural implements to the Musée de l’Homme, now Quai Branly, a tool for working the land that we can discover.

Léon Busy cannot be detached from colour and daily life in Hanoi. It is thanks to its colors that we find the simple and practical clothing of the peasants of Tonkin, the shimmering and colorful funeral processions, the bright and multicolored oiled paper toys sold for the mid-autumn children’s party.

A museum and two books remind us of these works, to be seen and admired
